Nationally known as The Performance Psychiatrist™, Dr. Choulet is a thought leader in the area of sports and performance psychiatry, as she is a Contributing Writer for Forbes and Psychology Today through her blog channel titled, Sports and Performance Psychiatry. She has extensive experience working with professional sports organizations, as she has been the Consulting Team Psychiatrist for the NBA Phoenix Suns and WNBA Phoenix Mercury and currently is a provider on the NBPA and NFLPA's Mental Health Directory.
Dr. Choulet has worked with athletes at all levels from middle schoolers to professional sports leagues. Dr. Choulet is well-known for her role as President of the American Board of Sports and Performance Psychiatry, where she is also one of seven founding members. Dr. Choulet received the Certificate of Additional Training in Sports Psychiatry from the International Society for Sports Psychiatry (ISSP).
Dr. Choulet strives to eliminate the obstacles in receiving tailored mental health treatment for busy professionals, high-profile individuals, and their families in their local communities, which is what led her to establish Choulet Performance Psychiatry®.
Dr. Choulet was raised in San Diego, California and then went on to complete a 6 year B.A./M.D. program at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. She obtained her medical degree at the age of 24 and pursued training in general psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix, affiliated with Banner University Medical Center. Dr. Choulet continued her training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through Creighton University, affiliated with Valleywise Health in Phoenix, Arizona. Following in the footsteps of her mother and grandfather, Dr. Choulet is a third-generation child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist.
