JAMYE SHELTON, Psy.D.

Clinical Sport & Performance Psychologist​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Jamye Shelton, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical sport and performance psychologist, best known for her current position with the US Olympics and past positions providing services for the NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, and elite college athletes at Rutgers University and Arizona State University. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University, master’s in education at Springfield College in athletic counseling, and master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology, with concentrations in sport and community psychology, at the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology.

Dr. Shelton’s experiences include individual services with athletes, performers, and entrepreneurs, while also working with universities and businesses on systemic and comprehensive goals. Her specialties include performance enhancement, mindfulness-based interventions, comprehensive behavioral treatment for body-focused repetitive behaviors, program planning, and evaluation, and cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety, depression, performance, and interpersonal concerns. She also provides group services and interventions on topics of increasing performance, mindfulness, stress management, and team building.

Dr. Shelton is passionate about assisting others in overcoming obstacles, growing as individuals, and developing skills to achieve objectives in all areas of their lives. She integrates her sport and performance psychology techniques with evidence-based cognitive behavior therapy to collaboratively examine issues with clients and address concerns with intention. Additionally, Dr, Shelton is also adamant on helping implement inclusive, ethical, and goal-driven initiatives to help businesses and universities achieve at higher levels.
